Our team offers expertise in diverse ecosytems and food systems including traditional harvest in the North, kelp mariculture and regenerative ocean farming, natural climate solutions, community-based conservation strategies, water rights, ecosystem services, and regenerative agriculture. We bring experience in business, non-profit and program start-up and leadership.
Our work includes hands-on applied research, strategic and policy analyses, building organizational capacity, facilitation, and project design, development and management.
We work across ecologically and culturally diverse landscapes with non-profit organizations, businesses, Indigenous rights-holders, communities and governments. We embrace different and complementary knowledge systems and equitable and collaborative partnerships to inform dialogs and design solutions. Our approach is wholistic, integrating environment, economy and culture.

Kelp Mariculture
Kachemak Kelp Innovation Hub – founding partners of applied research initiative supporting development of a sustainable and inclusive seaweed mariculture industry and alleviating barriers to community-scale regenerative ocean farming in coastal Alaska. Supporting best ecological practices in ocean farming, developing and scaling efficient methods of processing farm-grown seaweed, and developing value-added products for diverse markets - in food, agriculture, textile, and skincare. The Hub is a collabortion with Regeneration North, Saltwater, Inc., Alutiiq Pride Marine Institute/Chugach Regional Resources Comission, Kachemak Bay kelp farmers, Salmon Sisters, and others, and has been supported by a NOAA Saltonstall-Kennedy grant, the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation, and the Alaska Mariculture Cluster.
National Review and Alignment of Kelp Mariculture Organic Certification Protocols and Guidelines - Under the the USDA Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP) and in collaboration with GreenWave, we convened and facilitated a nation-wide, collaborative cross-sector process to develop guidelines for organic certification of seaweed farms and crops under the USDA National Organic Program to ensure consistent implementation within the seaweed mariculture sector.
Organic Certification of farmed Kelp; Alaska Needs Assessment - Under the the USDA Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP) - Assessment of current and anticipated market demand for Alaska-grown organic certified farmed kelp, identifying impediments to organic certification, and support mechanisms and infrastructure recommendations to support and advance organic kelp production.
Food Security & Community Resilience
Philathropic advising - on food security initaives in Alaska, linking food production and subsistence harvests to biodiversity conservation and economic development.

Municipality of Anchorage - Food to Farms - Pilot project to divert organic food waste from the landfill to local farms for animal feed and soil amendment.
Sustainability at Anchorage’s K Street Market - Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop – Facilitated planning for re-purposing and incorporating renewable energy in rehabilitation and renovation of a 1960s building in the Anchorage Downtown Business Improvement District to achieve goals of strengthening local food businesses and revitalizing an urban neighborhood.
Regenerative Agriculture & Agroforestry
Regenerative Farm Plan & Soil Health/Carbon Primer – Pacific Northwest sheep ranch, for climate-positive pasture management in sync with exceptional animal care and quality meat production.
Agroforestry - Supported the organizational growth of Interlace Commons and their mission to promote the adoption of agroforestry land-use practices that address climate change and land degradation and move toward resilient, biodiverse landscapes that enhance livelihoods.
Where
We live in Dena’ina ełnena - the Dena’ina homeland, and work in the homelands of the many different and diverse Indigenous Peoples of the North, Pacific Northwest, and beyond. We are grateful for and learn from the past and present Indigenous stewardship of the lands where we now live and work, and we strive to be good guests.
